  • Create a new page:

1) decide which page should link to the new page, and what the new page should be called.

2) add the link to the new, non-existing page by editing the page that should have the link: - click 'edit this page' - add some text such as

"follow this link to my New Page"
where the double brackets contain the exact name of the new page

3) viewing the old page should show the new link in red, because the page it links to doesn't exist yet.

4) click on the red link, it will let you edit (create) the new page

this process might seem a bit backward as you have to start with the link, not the page, but it works quite well.

  • Deleted existing pages/ need to revert back to a previous state?:

look at page history by clicking the link at the bottom of page... then you can do a bit of sampling of the previous versions to find out when it got lost, and compare and contrast....

  • Change the title of a page or link

Since wiki links use the title of a page there is no way to change the 'link name' without changing the page title. For example, if a page/link name is incorrect or badly spelt, you can't just edit the link and expect it to still point to the same place. Usually it is better to have a typo here and there than to change page titles, as this will cause more confusion and broken links. If absolutely necessary, you can change the title of a page by moving it. Go to the page in question and click 'Move this page'. You must then verify that all links to that page are updated as well.

If all links to a page are removed or changed then that page becomes an orphan - there's no way to access that page from any other page. To see what pages have no links to them there is a special wiki section called Lonelypages (http://wiki.hacklab.org.uk/index.php/Special:Lonelypages)
